Projects

Sarvatra is capable of operating anywhere in the world to carry out Mine Action Activities. Currently, we have our activities going on in Sri Lanka since 2003.

Project 2003

	Salampaikulam: This was our first task in Sri Lanka. We commenced demining it on 01 Jul' and completed 04 Oct'2003. From an area of 1,88,428 square meters only eight anti personal mines were recovered. Omanthai: This task commenced on 11 Nov'2003 and completed on 17 Feb'2004. A total of 3 AT mines, 51 AP mines and 60 UXOs were recovered from an area of 63,075 square meters.

Project 2004

Samaypuram: Within a period of 28 days, SARVATRA was able to clear 54,092 square meters of area with 3 UXOs. Ganeshpuram: Task commenced on 20 Feb’04. Sarvatra cleared 3,25,234 square meters of area in just four months. 78 AP mines and 4 UXOs were recovered from the danger area. Mooniyamadu: This task started on 28 Jul’2004 and took almost five months to finish. 49 AP Mines and 3 UXOs were recovered from this location.

Project 2005

	Kanthasamynagar: An area of 2,01,250 square meters was explored with technical survey without finding any mine or ERW. This task was finished in 140 days Mooniyamadu : Once again we had a chance to deploy our teams in this area We explored an area of 44,570 square meters with 20 AP Mines and 3 UXOs to our credit. Salampaikulam: 29,931 square meters of an area contiguous to our first task, was suspected to be mined. We were asked to prepare a mine report, clear it and submit clearance report. 37 AP Mines and an UXO were found while working on this task.

Project 2006

Paranadakallu-I: This task was assigned to SARVATRA on 24 Jan’2006. It is all jungle with heavy undergrowth. We explored an area of 73,220 square meters in just three months. Two mine strips having a total of 403 AP Mines and 2 UXOs were found and destroyed. Credit of completing and handing over the task so soon goes to our ground preparation machine ARJUN.

Paranadakallu-II: This is an adjacent area and contiguous to Paranadakallu-I. This too is full of undergrowth and manually impregnable. ARJUN, once again is proving its worth in preparing ground and facilitating work for Deminer. We have so far explored 30,930 square meters of area and found 586 AP Mines and 94 UXOs.

In the year 2006, Sarvatra cleared a total of 419,674 sq. mtrs. of land and removed 2306 mines.

Summary: Since our induction in Sri Lanka in 2003, we have cleared more than one and half million square meters of land with 2500 mines and 174 UXOs. We handed over 27 cleared areas to government authorities and people to resettle and commence their social and economic activities. We are now entrusted with another three dangerous areas for demining. Our demining teams are making very good progress in all these areas. They are likely to finish the task soon and continue exploring new horizons of demining world over.
