Land released at Salampaikulam

Salampaikulam (Sri Lanka) 31 Oct’2003. Our first ever task of demining at Salampaikulam completed on 31 Oct’2003. We organized a handing over ceremony in the village Community Hall where all concerned were invited. Besides Mr. Nand Godage, Chairman MMIPE, Ms. Lionie Barnes UNDP, Mr. T. Ichishi JCCP and Mr. Fareneau FSD attended the function. Land cleared of mines and other ERW was handed over to Mr. Ganesh, Government Agent of Vavuniya. A cup of tea and snacks were offered to the participants. As a confidence measure, local community was given a feel of the cleared land by having a walk over of the area.
